Evaluation question 4- Hannah McGee

Evaluation question 3- Hannah McGee

What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Animatic audience feedback
-we gathered a group of students and invited them to watch our animatic for our video 'Riptide'. Once they had watched this we then asked them some follow up questions such as 'what was the song about' 'who the target audience was?' and 'what artists are our there already who are similar to Emma Stevens?'
-The feedback stated that on average it was clear that the song was a love story not only by the words but the narrative of the video also
-That the target audience would be for children-young adults and that our main focus was girls
-Similar artists were Demi Lavato, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.

From receiving this feedback we discovered that in fact we did not have to make any changes as our planned target audience were also children to young adults and mainly girls.
Narrative Feedback
-We then asked students who were not familiar with this side of media aspects to analyse our narrative. We again asked whether or not they felt the narrative we had chosen suited the song and again we gathered the same response. It was made evident that solely by the nature of the song lyrics it was clear that the narrative would have to be a love song. This was fitting as we had originally planned a video with the theme of love allowing us to proceed with our work without any changes being made.
How did audience feedback impact the video?
-Audience feedback was a key element when evaluating our narrative and video concept.
-The negative comments we received revolved around there being too much performance throughout the video as we constantly referred back to the protagonist singing throughout.
-When taking this into account we removed some of the shots of the performance and replace them with short clips of London landmarks creating synergy throughout.
-By receiving this feedback it provided with the knowledge on how to change the video in order to create a more professional looking final product.
-When focusing solely on the lip syncing, our feedback was mainly positive stating that it was near to perfect however there were certain clips that were slightly off which were highlighted by the accuracy of it throughout.
What was the audience response to the first viewing?
-This for us was seen as the most important viewing as people who watched it were able to give back feedback there and then and allowed us to change anything. However our feedback were mainly positive with many saying that they were impressed with the lip sinking as well as enjoying the featured shots of London landmarks including the London eye and Big Ben.
-This was hugely beneficial as it allowed us to remove clips of the protagonist and instead play shots of London as well as fixing where the lip syncing was not accurate leaving us eventually with a product that met the audience's expectations.

Evaluation Q2 (Simeon Onaji)

When looking at the effectiveness of the combination of my main product and ancillary tasks I need to ensure that they are each effective on their own first. They would be deemed effective if they fulfilled their purpose and if they were appropriate for my target audience.
DIGIPAK
I believe my Digipak fulfil its purpose. This is because it contains many conventions of a real music digipak.
Within this image we see Rihanna the main Artist, looking calm and relaxed as she looks down, we are immediately drawn to the boldness of both her lips and her hair. Similarly in our digipak, Hannah's face dominates the screen, we are immediately drawn to her lips which is opened slightly. Similar to Rhianna's digipak red dominates the screen and both artists are looking down. In addition the typography used within both respective front cover is very minimal, only the artists names and the name of their albums are placed upon the front cover and below the bold images of both protagonist faces.

The back cover of both albums are also very similar. The use of Arial font on the track lists makes them both easy to read for the audience and it also implies that both artists represents as simple women. Both female artists have been placed on the left hand side so the fonts won't take away the main image. the bar codes and other texts in both respective back covers have been placed at the bottom which is what we normally see on the back cover of a digipak. They have used small font size on other texts but made the fonts larger for the track lists as this is the main important text at the back cover. The similarities between both digipak suggest that my digipak fulfils its purpose.

All through of my product are connected through the use of synergy, due to the same settings being used in the video, the digipak and also the magazine advert. Moreover all three products present our main character Hannah therefore showing an immidiate links between the three products. In addition similar fonts and colours were used throughout the creation of the three product thus creating synergy.
My anciliry text has enhanced my main text in a number of way. it has enhanced the proffesional look and feel of the album which is common for a released album, moreover the poster cover allowed us to show various reviews and comments which would also be seen on a bi album release. In additon the digipak includes the front and back cover and all the songs in the album, all of which makes the project seem more real and belivable which is the aim.
In terms of our digpak and poster cover the targetaudience told us that our digipak did look professional and believeable, they thought the font and background image were good, However our audience feel that we could have done more to make our Magazine poster look more professional and less amaturite.

Overall I am very pleased with the end results of my ancillary tasks. I believe they fulfil their purpose effectively and are also aesthetically pleasing. If I had to change something I would maybe change the picture of the artist in the advertisement. I beleieve i could have used an image that better create a synergy between the three prodct as well as making the magazine look less amature.
